About US Navy Sailing
The US Naval Sailing Association (USNSA), also known as US Navy Sailing, is an independent non-profit organization comprised of active duty and retired military personnel, recognized in an advisory and assistance capacity by the Chief of Naval Personnel, and committed to providing active duty members an opportunity for sail training and recreation in sail craft. The association and its branches (the latter sponsored by local commands) support objectives of the Navy sail training program by providing volunteer instructors and by operating the qualification system.
USNSA works closely with the US Naval Sailing Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation whose purpose is to encourage and facilitate donations of property and funds and to hold, manage and utilize the same for the purpose of aiding and supporting the U.S. Navy in its sailing program.
The Foundation was incorporated in 1974 in Maryland for operations Navy-wide to support Navy sailing. The Foundation accepts boats, property or cash that can be put to use for the benefit of the sailing program, either directly or by conversion to cash. Donations are tax deductible.
Vets on the Bay is one of the Foundation's projects. Other projects include:
